Course overview
The primary purpose of this qualification is to provide you with more in-depth knowledge of the use of counselling skills in everyday life and work. The qualification aims to develop your counselling skills, develop your understanding of the different approaches involved in the use of counselling skills and to help you appreciate the importance of self-development. The qualification has been developed in partnership with industry experts in a range of areas and is mapped against relevant National Occupational Standards (NOS) in Counselling, Health and Social Care, Mental Health and the National Health Service Knowledge and Skills Framework. It will provide you with a nationally recognised qualification in Counselling.
Syllabus
Practical training
There is no formal practical training required to complete this course, however, your practical counselling skills will be assessed via our unique online learning platform.
Prerequisites
You don’t need to have any specific prior learning requirements to take this qualification, but you may find it helpful if you’ve already achieved the NCFE CACHE Level 2 Certificate in Counselling Skills or a similar qualification.
Learners should be at least 18 to undertake this qualification.
Level
On successful completion of this course you will achieve the NCFE CACHE Level 3 Diploma in Counselling Skills qualification.
The NCFE CACHE Level 3 Diploma in Counselling Skills is a regulated qualification. This means it is a nationally recognised qualification, regulated by Ofqual in England.
This qualification is ideal for you if you are interested in using counselling skills as part of your functional role in a wide range of sector areas, or looking to progress towards accredited counsellor status with one of the counselling professional accrediting bodies. This qualification won’t qualify you to practice as a counsellor but will equip you to understand and use counselling skills.
This course has a credit value of 40 total credits (generally, 1 credit is equal to 10 hours of learning time).

This course is delivered online or via mixed study.
Online study

You will be able to progress through your course whenever and wherever you wish – all you need is access to the internet, and a computer, laptop, tablet or smartphone.
Once you have enrolled, you can begin the course when you want and progress in your own time. You have up to 2 years to complete the course, with an expected total study time of 400 hours, studied at your own pace.
Mixed study
You will receive your course units in paper format by post and your practical counselling skills will be assessed via our unique interactive online learning environment.
After enrolling you will receive access to the online learning environment and as you progress through the course units, you will be prompted to go online to complete the interactive tasks including discussions, virtual classrooms and videos.
As you submit each assignment your next course unit will be mailed out for you to study when it suits you.
Once you have enrolled, you can begin the course when you want and progress in your own time. You have up to 2 years to complete the course, with an expected total study time of 400 hours, studied at your own pace.
