Finding Fitness Courses to suit you

The range of Sport and Fitness Courses available from BSY offers a great variety to choose from.  Choices range from Mid-Section Trainer to Pilates and from Chi Kung to Gym Instructor.  One factor that all of these courses have in common is that exercise is good for us and it can make us feel good too.  It relieves stress and tension in the body, which is good for us both physically and mentally, and can improve heart and lung function, along with other physical benefits.

Having already studied the Alexander Technique and Sports Injuries, Adele Page decided that she wanted to continue her professional development by studying BSY’s Clinical Personal Fitness Trainer course.  She said that she found that open learning is the best option for her.  Many students comment on how convenient they find studying with BSY, often fitting learning in with being a busy mother, or having a job where they work long hours.  The fact that there are no deadlines means that students can work at their own pace, without the pressures of deadlines and fixed examination dates.  Adele commented on the wide and varied range of courses available with BSY, and the fact that some of the courses are not available elsewhere.  In future, she would like to complement her qualifications by studying Sports Nutrition.

Evelyn Spence also chose to study with BSY.  She elected to train as a Clinical Personal Fitness Trainer so that she can continue her instructing along the GP referral route.  She too chose to study with BSY because she could study at home, and at her own pace.  She said that she was impressed by the good, quick feedback that she received.  In the future she wants to work with clients on referral schemes from their doctor.  As a first time student with BSY, she said that to anyone thinking of studying with BSY she would say that it is worthwhile and gives you more knowledge.

Melissa Rayner enrolled to study to be a Personal Fitness Trainer.  She said that she chose this from BSY’s Fitness Courses because she believed that she could do it better than the people she employed!  She runs one hour bootcamp sessions, plus day and weekend fitness camps for women.  She enrolled because studying with BSY suited her time wise.  She commented that she has a small baby, and studying is often done between 5am and 6am.  In the future, she is considering studying Yoga and Pilates courses, and to anyone thinking of studying with BSY, her advice is “go for it!”

Nutrition Training for BSY students leads to a healthier diet

One of the benefits of Nutrition training with BSY is that not only does it enable our students to help their clients, but it can also enable them to improve their own diets, giving them a greater understanding of food and how our bodies use it.

One such student is Jill Graham.  She chose her course because of her own health issues, as well as those of her clients.  She said, “I wanted to find out how I could improve my general health without medication and give nutrition advice to my clients when appropriate.”  She added that she is a Massage and Beauty Therapist and has just undertaken training as a Doula, which provides a non-clinical support role for pregnant women before, during or after the birth, so she now only specialises in maternity care.  Jill chose to study with BSY because of the holistic approach, plus the fact that she could work at her own pace and also that the course was affordable.  She was particularly happy with the course content, and being able to work at her own pace.  She found that the tutor feedback and her own good grades gave her the confidence in her academic ability as she had never undertaken academic studies before – everything had been based on practical experience.  In fact, she has discovered that she really enjoys learning and studying so is considering enrolling on a Meditation course in the future.

Fatima Hassan decided on Nutrition training as she feels that nutrition is so important for good health.  She feels that her qualification will complement her current Reiki practice.  She said that she chose BSY because they seem to be widely recognised and she considered that it provided the best option for distance learning, with flexibility over time to complete the course.  She said that she liked the presentation and content of the course materials, and the helpfulness of the tutors and the staff.  She added, “the little gifts returned with the assignments are a nice touch.”

Someone else who is interested in working with people to improve their diets, fitness and lifestyles, either as a nutritionist or as a fitness trainer, is Anne Lewis.  She decided to combine her  Nutrition training with a Clinical Personal Fitness Trainer course.  She chose to study with BSY as they had relevant courses in the subjects she was interested in, and also because the tutor she spoke to on the phone was very  helpful and knowledgeable.  She was also happy with the subject matter and found the assignments interesting, and said that studying with BSY had inspired her to start her own business very soon, probably specialising in Lifestyle Management

Foot Care Training courses help students to achieve their ambitions

Foot Care Training enables BSY students to fulfil a vital role.  We tend to take our feet for granted until we have a problem, and then we urgently need to find someone qualified to help us.

Alecz Mullany-Sversepa first discovered that she was naturally good with feet when she was providing therapies for people with terminal cancer.  She said that she would often end the treatments ‘fixing’ feet so she decided to broaden her knowledge of current techniques and obtain a qualification for a subject that she intuitively understood.  She chose BSY’s Foot Care Training because it was a convenient way for her to learn, “especially as I was in between countries.”  She added, “I liked the website and it seemed a reputable company.  As I had never done correspondence learning before this was a big factor.”  To anyone considering studying with BSY, her advice would be to “do it!  It will change your life.  If I can do it – you can do it.”    Proof of this is that she would like to study foot care further as it has helped her focus on what is important.  To this end, in future she might study Advanced Foot Care, and also Biochemic Medicine, Health Care (Primary Nursing), Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and also Nail Technician.

Another BSY student who wants to pursue a career in foot care is Victoria Allen.  She enrolled on the Foot Care Specialist course because she wanted to take a new direction career-wise, and she also wanted to remain self employed.  She chose the course because it looked really interesting, and said that this has proved to be the case.  She added that being a Foot Care Specialist is a sociable job as you get to chat with clients.  She said that she chose to study with BSY because they, “had the course I was looking for and after researching BSY found that they are a very reputable company.”  She has been very happy with the amount that she has learnt since starting her training.  She commented that it has been a long time since she studied, and that she had been worried her brain had gone to mush.  “Apparently not!” she added.  She hopes in the future to become self employed, once she has finished her training, which will be a change of career for her.  She would also like to study Reflexology in the future, which would complement her current course.  Finally, her advice to anyone considering studying with BSY would be that they should be prepared to learn a lot and enjoy it!
